A meeting of newly elected national Council of the association took place on 7 december 2011 in London with Mr Tom Nelson, National president taking the chair for the first time.
Reports were given on the recent meetings of the trophy Awards Committee, the Training and Education Committee and the Executive Committee. Suzannah Nichol (MBE), Chief Executive of NSCC, gave a presentation on a pilot training scheme, Mr Stephen Bagnall PDA representative gave a report on the CIJC, and Mr Stuart Seddon submitted a report on UNIEP. The Hon. Treasurer, Mr Harry Adam gave a financial report to the council on the current finanncial situation and the budget for 2012 was approved. The council discussed the Recruitment Stategy for 2012 and also reflected upon the success of member retention for 2011.
The 2011 Annual Conference was considered as a successful event and a number of new ideas were suggested. It was also confirmed that the 2012 Annual Conference will be held 26-28 October at the Forest of Arden, Meriden.
The Executive Committee for 2012 was elected, in addition to the Officer Bearers of the Association, the following were elected: Sammy Davies, Nigel Deamer, Andrew Havard, Norman Nuttall and John Milne. Representitives of the PDA external organisations were also confirmed; the decorator
