...it feels great doesn’t it? Why can’t it feel like that every day in business?

When the sun shines...

Whilst not every day goes to plan, I believe it is possible to feel great about every day. It’s about how you look at what happens to you.

If you get a phone call from a client saying that they want to cancel a contract, whilst a problem and no doubt annoying, you can thank the client for the feedback, see if you can rescue the situation and if not then view it as an opportunity to learn and ensure that it doesn’t happen again. In other words embrace the learning . Alternatively, you can be depressed and miserable about it, assume there’s nothing you could have done about it, ignore the feedback and most likely get similar news from another client it the not too distant future. Which is the better approach?

Reviewing your day is also important to having a sunshine day as well. Thinking back through what has been positive in your day – even if, like the example above, it was a tough lesson to learn – means that your brain sees and hear you talking to yourself in a successful way. It ensures you reinforce a positive mental attitude. If you then plan your next day from a positive perspective it means that you close the day in a great frame of mind ready for a relaxing evening and a great tomorrow.

You might think this sounds a bit ‘happy-clappy’ but it really works – think of those people who you meet that radiate positivity and those that can literally drain you of the will to live – these are called ‘drains’ and ‘radiators’. Which one are you?

Wishing you more sunshine...
