Solar PV panels provide free daytime electricity and you sell back unused electricity to the National Grid, your Utility Provider then pays you back a tax free sum for the next 25 years index-linked, Eg. a 4 Kwh system will give a return to you depending on the amount of sunshine of approx. £1,300-00 per year at present as the feed-in tariff is 21 pence per Kwh. However, on the 1st August this tariff will change for new customers to 16 pence per Kwh. The cost of installing a solar PV system depends on the amount of panels - the more panels, the greater the return so you earn more money! The price of a solar panel system has reduced 40% since l2th december 2011 to make it more affordable as an investment.
The price of a system varies depending on the manufacturer of the panels, it ranges from £6,978 to £8,658. The system will have paid for itself in 6 years approx. and you continue to earn money!

Solar thermal panels use the daylight to make your hot water, by turning off the central heating hot water system it will reduce the energy bill by up to 25%.
