Are you email compliant?

Almost every business relies on email to communicate with customers, colleagues and suppliers, but now it’s not just enough to send and receive messages. The first email worries were all security based; IT administrators would worry if their company was running an open relay, end-users drowned in a torrent of spam and everyone worried if the next attachment they opened would delete their hard drive or shoot their dog. Now we’ve put most of these worries to bed (and if you haven’t by now, drop us a line!), we face a different problem – compliance. Did you know that if your business is a private or public limited company or a Limited Liability Partnership, the Companies Act 1985 requires your letterhead, order forms and all business emails to include the following details in legible characters:
• Your company registration number
• Your place of registration (e.g. Scotland or England & Wales)
• Your registered office address?

This information should also appear on your company’s website. Failure to comply with these requirements puts your company at risk of a fine. Now, this is easy to manage if there’s only a couple of computers in your organization, but what is you have 20, 60, 100 computers? You may want to check that you are compliant. We’ll wait…
