45 to 400 - A business growth story

How a company went from a high staff turnover and 45 staff to being a team of over 400 with a significantly lower turnover. All by using one simple thing.
Enthusiastic, energetic employees are more productive.
Such a cliche!
However the 'energetic employees are more productive' line is very true and even more important in todays economy.
The problem arises when some companies believe that by simply leaving staff to their own devices, they will stay happy.
Or indeed they start to react in a way that creates negative energy and people start to leave.
For one business this was the norm.
This business was doing well with a team of 45, however this team was constantly changing - people leaving unhappy and people feeling deflated.
The business was putting so much money into training new staff that they were ignoring the staff that they had.
The management had started to worry about this situation, however they didn't know what the problem was and turned to a mutual friend specialising in HR.
So Mr HR went into the business and spoke to the team.
The results were shocking but so very familar across the UK - the staff had no contact with management to talk through problems, ask for advice or even just to make sure they were OK. Left to their own devices, they were becoming frustrated and demoralised while management were believing all was fine.
When employees don't feel the energy and passion from management, how do you expect them to share your enthusiasm and be productive.
So how did it change?
They put in place one simple plan that covered all staff and didn't cost a penny - each and every team member had a 30 minute 1-2-1 once a week with a member of management, to air issues and ask for advice - people were feeling in touch with the ones in the ivory tower.
So staff were more motivated, they felt that things were changing and nothing was lingering - the management cares, the buzz was there!
Moving forward this energy meant that new ideas were implemented, roles were developing - life was good.
Now they are a global company with over 400 staff in 4 countries, and a household name.
Unleash the potential - it works
