What forms of electricity generation does this cover? Customers can generate their own electricity from:
The majority of Feed-In Tariff installations are Solar P.V 0-4KW. The current tariff for thus is 43.3p (per KW) generation, plus 3.1p (per KW). These tariffs vary greatly, dependent upon the type/size of installation, and when it became eligible.
Generation tariffs are set by the Government through OFGEM. Current tariffs for most common technology types are below - they are set to drop after March 2012. The tariff that the customer signs up to at the time when they install their system is guaranteed for 25 years, and is linked to the rate of inflation.
Tariff levels, for technologies installed between 15 July 2009 and 31 March 2012.
Technology Scale Tariff level (p/kWh)* Tariff lifetime (years)
Solar electricity (PV) <4 kW (retro fit) 43.3 25
Solar electricity (PV) <4 kW (new build) 37.8 25
Wind <1.5 kW 36.2 20
Wind >1.5 - 15 kW 28.0 20
Micro CHP <2kW 10.5 10
Hydroelectricity <15kW 20.9 20
*As of 1 April 2011 which take into account rise in Retail Price Index (RPI) (which was 4.8%)
Tariff levels vary depending upon the scale of the installation
The tariff levels shown in the table above apply to installations completed from 15 July 2009
to 31 March 2012 for the lifetime of the tariff. After this date, the rates decrease each year for
new entrants into the scheme
All generation and export tariffs will be linked to the Retail Price Index (RPI) which ensures that
each year they follow the rate of inflation.
In addition, we are offering an extra 2p per kWh generated under the scheme for three years. This increases the customer's income, and maximises the return they are making on their investment.
