Been invited to address a health & safety conference in Prague

Driving back from a meeting on Friday afternoon I was startled - and very pleased - to get a phone call asking me if I was free to speak at an international conference on health & safety in the care sector this Thursday/ Friday.
The icing on the cake was that the organisers would pay for flights and hotels, and the conference is being held in Prague - which is a beautiful city It took me all of three seconds to give an answer - now all I have to do is write the presentation; find my passport; take my best suit to the cleaners (got to look smart); sort out currency; book a taxi ......

You're probably right - but when I rang KLM to check when the gate closes she cheerily remarked that "we recommend you get there 2 hours before departure." What? Arrive at 04:15? Pardon?

Just thought I'd update readers on what happened at the Prague health & safety conference last week: The event went off very well; my presentation was warmly received (even though I had to deliver it via an interpreter - never easy!); and they've asked me to give another presentation at the next conference in 2012. There have also been initial discussions about the possibility of my providing consultancy servces as they go through the process of revising and updating their health & safety legislation.
All in all I'd call the event a success! |
