I must have been good this year because Santa has promised me an iPad.

Does any one have any app recommendations? Having an iPhone I've already discovered how an afternoon can be lost on the app store, searching for apps and checking reviews etc. Are there any you find invaluable from a business point of view, any that are just plain fun or any inbetween?

The most valuable app I've found for my phone is the HoursTracker. As an artist, I use this to clock the time I spend on each painting and, in the new year, I'll reassess my prices based on the data gained from this app. (I have the full version which means I can export my times as a spreadsheet).

Hi,

I would recommend Dropbox and Evernote - they allow me to share files and notes across PC/phone/iPad without having to think about it.

Cheers,

Maff

It depends on what one likes to do.

Kindle app if you want to read books offered by Amazon and not in the iBookstore. IBooks for the iBookstore books

Flipboard is a winner as is Dropbox and Evernote; all three mentioned above.

Various newspapers if you like reading the latest news and do not want the paper/ink feel

While I do not use any, there are services that will highlight the latest or hotest apps. Some of the newspapers will have a weekly list. There are also some cool games. I am not a gamer so nothing I can recommend. Others will definitely have something they like

As I'm a keen photographer I use The Photographers Ephemeris LOADS - gives you sun and moon set and rise times anywhere in the world for dates so far in the futre I'll have died before it runs out and also shows relevant heights and angles between 2 points so you can work out when sun / moon will be behind an object. Here's an example of one I took on Christmas day http://www.photo4me.com/cart/details.asp?PictureID=136945  As it is a 150 mile drive each way I wanted to be sure of getting there at the right day of the year and time of day.

Also UK map is stunning. Pay for it once and then you can download as many 1:25k and 1:10k OS maps as you like - just downloading 1 map instantly saves you the cost of a paper map.

its a good example of when a new technology meets and old idea. My 5 Yr old loves it.

Another vote for Dropbox as an app and as a programme, I also use Splashtop remote desktop which allows me to work on my pc or laptop from my iPad
