A tip for all Networkers

This isn't new at all but in the last 10 days I have mentored Lawyers an Accountants and it was enlightening and a bit scary when I headed a section

"Networking With Purpose" which to an extent is the 4N mantra but adds the challenge of why are you doing it and what do yiou want out of it.

These high flyers networked because it was expected of them but most admitted it was unplanned and aimless.

So my Christmas present to you all for 2012 is to ensure you are always "networking with purpose"

With best wishes to one and all for the festive and remember that in volatile markets there are always opportunities but it is up to you to find the niches. .

One thing I found interesting when starting to look at networking was how many accountancy firms networked at least in part just to hold that spot (in BNI types where only one firm per profession).

I think the challenge is to say / show something funny / memorable so you stand out from the crowd.  I feel sometimes people are just going through the motions - having a prop, planninig your pitch with new industry news and a call to action will make you energised, keep you focussed and make usre you keep driven.

Absolutely Chris which is why I started this thread and why I run a workshop 'Networking with Intent' so people can learn the skills to get the most from networking.

Have an excellent Xmas and New Year... onwards and upwards for 2012!
