They said grace at some big dinner I was at last night.

Is that normal? I thought the dude was preparing for the rapture and might set his bomb belt off when he started god bothering. This was a sports presentation night with so called stars and stuff. For the proletariat. I didn't get it. |

They used to do it at the Chamber of Commerce brekkie in Cornwall. I was half way through my second sausage by the time it finished! |

i'd've just declared a jihad on the lot of 'em and set about the place with me steak knife. mind you i've been know to do that in family restaurants with no religous mandate on display at all so i s'pose there's no real surprise there... on a more serious note, you could've actually pointed out that enforcing religous practices is against the geneva convention and have them all arrested for civil rights infringement. |

Or just not been a git and swallow your pride for thirty seconds. Which Boris did, and therefore is aces. God spends most of his time helping sports stars (as well as actors win Oscars) so it's only right that they offer thanks. |

They had a minutes applause for Alan Ball as well. It was embarrassing, I didn't know where to put myself. |

I've been to a lot of sports presentations where grace has been said. Never bothered me. |

Ah it all makes sense now. They must have been Evertonian's and have obviosuly worked out that they cannot possibly be in fourth place (above the city's proper football club) without some divine intervention. And be fair, Alan Ball is still arguably their best player - even with the handicap of being dead and everything. |
