"4N doesn't want passporters to renew" is just a silly rumour, innit?

Angela, that's what Area Leaders do.  Most members I see regularly anyway and I know from conversation we have how they're doing and if they're making the most of all the tools.  There's also the LEARN sessions to take advantage of.  Anyone who I haven't seen for a while get a phone call just to make sure they're alright.  Sometimes I've discovered someone is ill or that they've got a full time contract which is keeping them away.  So in a nutshell, yes absolutely this is the key to retaining members - operating the platinum rule!

I just did some of this painful thinking (you know that it's painful once you come to my age, believe me).

I read some mentioning about 'the AL should do this' or 'the RL should do that'.
Right away without starting to search I have no idea who "my" AL or RL are. Funny, innit? I joined in April 2008...

Next step: where would I search? tbh I have no idea and I seriously wonder why. And I wonder how many other passporters don't know either. Mind you I am primarily talking about Joe the normal member who is not in the Club800.

Isn't the AL name mentioned as part of the 4N meeting script.

This is interesting and shows the difference between perception (in this case of what GL/AL/RL think) and what has arrived at the ordinary Joe Bloggs poor little brain.

So I searched, and finally found my AL/RL mentioned on the meeting info page in the booking system. This is a page I never ever need to use, because the (good) process of 4N books me in for the next meeting whenever I show up for brekkie.

Surprise surprise, my AL is ex-GL Peter S, I meet him every single time at brekkie. Did I notice any of his AL function? Sorry no. (And before you say anything, This is absolutley no Peter bashing)

My RL is Stef, I know him, I met him numerous times on- and offline. I had no idea he is a RL, let alone my RL.

Lesson to be learnt: Your clients don't necessarily know what you think they know about your company.

Michael,

Whichever group you joined at is your 'Home Group', You could search in your memory for that, then look at the meeting page to see who the team are.

It is the Area Leader's role to engage with all their members, those who attend and those who don't, and to follow up lapses, and remind people when their renewals are due.

Lots of Area Leaders don't do this.

You are perfectly right, yet in this desert of the West Country (Exeter) I have only one group I can go to without seriously big effort. The whole concept of a 'home group' gets lost a little bit. Not that it really matters.

I am not the moaner on duty here, don't get me wrong. I am after all part of the furniture at 4N Exeter.
My point refers more in a general sense to that I might not be the only one who doesn't know AL or RL. As I said, I only ever used the meeting page exactly one time, for my first brekkie as a passporter.

What might make an unsuspecting passporter or non-passporter look up on the booking system of all pages who the AL/RL is.

There is also no way to see which areas or regions exist. Not that I miss that particular information.

you don't need to know regions or areas, all that data is on the groups meeting pages.

You seem to be deliberately trying to make this difficult, when it really isn't.

Your area leader will typically be at almost every single meeting within their area, and will be identified as such - by name and role - within the script at every single meeting.

AL's are informed of every lapsing membership on the horizon and prompted to engage with those members regarding renewals.

Payments are collected automatically on a 6 month cycle

Emails automatically go out to the member on advance

Things always slip through the cracks, but considering the above I can't see any feasible scenario where this would be the norm - it takes a failing of 2 automated systems, a human failing on the AL's part, and a high level of ignorance on the members part (if they go to meetings regularly yet never pick up on the namecheck for the AL or the bit at the end of the script that specifically addresses who to speak to if you need to renew your membership) in order for this to go completely unchecked.

... and so I drag my old 'discussion' about regional forum threads back out again ...
Can't find it now but when I last posted it went something along the lines of having a regional section of the forum which would contain a sticky that noted all the team members of that particular area.
