Worthwhile or just spoil an otherwise nice piece of commercial stationery? |

Good if they hold a vCard and not just a link to your website |

QR codes are terribly misused, and usually far too big - they can be incredibly small and almost incidental. I found this article quite helpful. http://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/5-steps-to-a-successful-qr-code-marketing-campaign/ And this one shows you what can be done to integrate the QR code gracefully into your branding: http://mashable.com/2011/04/18/qr-code-design-tips/ I was involved in a project which was making QR codes an integral part of the shop floor and an excellent suggested sales booster.

I prefer to put mine through http://goo.gl (Google's URL shortner) as a shorter URL allows for a cleaner QR code with fewer blocks. Fewer blocks allows for a smaller QR code. Which is nice. |

I was in a store recently and their shelves were QR friendly. A shame no one thought of checking that we could get a mobile phone signal in the back half of the shop. Gary |

Christopher - The site gives you a direct link to a shortened URL. Just click 'hit me' for an example. |

As a user, for me on business cards they just clutter things up. It takes roughly the same amount of time to load up the app, scan, and wait to be diverted, as it does to just type in a URL. Its not making life easier. |

I imagine as phone OS upgrades continue the integration will become so tight that simply passing your phone over a QR code will cause it to take you straight to whatever it's for. Although that method has some enormous security/privacy issues. But hey, that never stopped innovation.... |

I hear you on the mobile friend page and that is a great idea with any QR code. However the scenario was on a business card and not a flyer or a poster. If a contact is looking at a business card the chances are they want to enter your details on to their systems, so a vCard would be of better use in this scenario

On the basis that on a business card I agree with Carl that contact details are more relevant I went for the Vcard option on the back of the card where the businessa address is printed. The Vcard includes the website url so the user can get there from that. |

I use QR cards on my 4 sided business card. With 4 sides I get the space to put the QR code on nicely and I don't just link to Vcard. I link to a signup form allowing the recipient to receive lots of free video marketing tips and also helps my mailing list grow. They can download my vcard from the initial signup form too. |

Mathew - I'm intrigued, what is a 4 sided business card? Do you have a picture you could share? |

It's just a big business card, folded over a couple of times Carl. Sorry if you thought it was some kind of awesome new tech |

Ahh, just never heard it described like that before |
