I will be changing my PC in the near future. When I have done this in the past I found it time consuming entering data stored in the adress book on the email editor. Does anyone know an easier method? I have tried copying to a memory stick with no joy.

I am sure there are IT guys on here that will provide better advice but I use Outlook and copy the entire .pst file. That will also copy all of your emails.

I am not sure on other email programs such as mozilla.

Loads of ways to find the pst file but the easier is to just do a search in windows.

Hi John,

If using Outlook its as easy as exporting your addressbook from the File menu and then importing on the new computer. If using Outlook Express / Windows Live Mail it can be a little trickier. Try these links on for size though:

Outlook Express: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/175017

Windows Live: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Transfer-files-from-another-computer

Outlook: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook-help/move-an-outlook-data-file-from-one-computer-to-another-HA001230892.aspx

If you want to know exactly where your data is stored with Live Mail this link shows you, worst case scenario is that you copy this directory to the new machine and you can coax Live Mail to import all the content again:

http://liveunplugged.wordpress.com/2011/02/04/windows-live-mail-contacts-database/

Lots of links and geek speak there, send me a PM if you need any help with this could always do this over email, phone or remote control support.

Graham

With Microsoft Office, only some versions come with outlook so it is important to know which email client you are using.
But I suspect that we are coming at this from the wrong angle. I suspect that you aren't storing each address but using the form data facility to enter part of the email address and let the system fill in the rest. If that is the case then you will need some tech help to capture the data.
Let me know if we can help. We can connect remotely.
