0% Finance is our Back End strategy. NHS is an option but it would damage our reputation as a private clinic in long term. Most of the reachest customers would never come to us if we have nhs. |

Marketing a dental practice can utilise techniques deployed by other local service businesses but MUST adapt them. Successfully persuading a stranger to trust a clinician who is going to perform surgery requires a much higher degree of trust than buying none invasive professional services. In addition the General Dental Council and CQC have ethical advertising standards and patient communication standards the are enforcable by law. So for example, telephone canvassing is illegal. That being said there are very many tested and proven methods that can be used. I have a book coming out in 2 weeks on this very subject. I am not going to publish the contents of my book on this formum but will happy post a link to Amazon where you can buy it. Gaining a public section contract is a different thing entirely. Commissioning officers will not be looking to negotiate any change to the 2012/2013 contract provision until January 2013. Simple enough questions...answer is a bit more complex.

Approach the local schools? Presentation on oral hygenieor something suitable with a letter for each child to take home. We had a letter from the local dentist as they'd been at the school saying our chid had something to be looked at so we should consult our dentist asap...but if we didn't have a dentist.... Gets your name out there and also you're doing your bit in the community. |

I've got a Twitter/Linkedin approach that works well.. Twitter searches combined with LinkedIn searches and here's the big one...networking..the people I've met know what I do so i'm able to demonstarte how my services solve a problem..

Of course they can complain. Doesn't mean anyone is listening. If you have a capacity of 100 on your network and your contract with the government was for 80. Then the government said next year we will reduce your contract to 75 and pay less per unit. So you income has dropped but your overhead is the same. Okay so you need to invent a new premium product and market it. Fine. If you are a dentist, and your "standard" produce is healthcare, what is your premium product? Better healthcare? But you are ethically and legally obligued to provide the best healthcare to all your patients. So perhaps different treatments? Well your contract forbids cross-selling. So a nice waiting room? But only one building. Healthcare IS the same as other businesses...but different! |

Hi Micheal, Can you not get a few hundred flyers designed and printed and them deliver them around your local area? Play on that it is hard for people to get on NHS dentist these days and you never know when you need a dentist, i know a few people that did no have NHS dentist and they got really bad teeth pain and had to go private. Speak to Neel, http://www.neeldentistry.co.uk/ here. He set up something similar and he's in the same industry as you so will have lots of experience (pluses and minuses) of what worked and what didn't. He set up right across the road from an established (old fashioned) practice and is doing very well with his approach. Mention my name as an intro if you want. You could also speak to Graham Archer who is a member here, http://www.4networking.biz/Members/Details/23237 who is a partner in Smile Marketing a marketing agency who specialise in the dental industry, they've a ton of experience sure he'd be happy to chat. As for getting new customers in general I find the 'do work really well and word gets around really fast' seemed to work for us since day 1, never paid for any marketing whatsoever since we set up. |
