Electrician needed urgently
| Posted: 29th Apr 2012 - 07:30 Quote | |
I'm after advice or assistance urgently. Any 4N sparkies or contacts with good reputations welcome! Woke up this morning to no power. Master reset on consumer unit would immediately trip again when reset. If each individual switch was flicked to 'off', then master power can be returned until the mains ring is switched back on. Then it trips again. I've gone around and unplugged (well switched the mains sockets off, plugs physically still in place) on every socket in the house, but it still is tripping so we can't isolate what the cause is. Logic suggests there is a wiring fault casing this. Has anyone got any suggestions or numbers I can call? Thank you in advance 4N |

Thank you. We may be on to something, I think the outside security light, although operated like a light switch, is on the mains circuit, and might be the cause. I'll update this again shortly |

I was going to sugggest that with all the rain we've had; it could be water ingress somewhere e.g. outside poweer socket, power to a shed/garage. I hope you're able to trace & fix the fault. Barry |

The cable running to the outside security light was broken and split due to weather/UV damage. There was lots of exposed cable and wire. Removed the light. Cut damaged motion of cable and all appears to be well. Thankfully there was plenty of spare cable in the wall cavity! Thanks for your suggestions, Barry |
