I heard about this Momentis opportunity from a friend over the weekend and being a guy who always is looking for smart investment I decided to check it out PROPERLY!
Seriously the share price of this company has not gone up more than 7cents a share in the last 5 years. It has been sued by most US states for miss-selling etc. and they are not even allowed to operate in the vast majority of US states! 98% of US customers have lost money and been stuck in a 5 year contracts that cost up to $600 to get out of. How they will ever get the necessary OFCOM licensing with their track record of poor performance I have no idea. Interesting 2nd post of yours! What you refer back to is Just Energy and NOT Momentis. This was from the days Just Energy were a direct selling company knocking door to door by commission only reps. They suffered the same fate as British Gas, EON and the rest who had bad experiences selling utilities door to door. They put thir house in order and changed their sales model. Enter Momentis...

What specific threat did it warn of? Some pages are infected through XSS or malicious ads being displayed, but I don't pick up anything. |

On an unrelated note, I'd been trying to remember the name of that online site scanner, thanks Lee. |

Methinks the momentis man doth protest too much. People really do p*ss me off sometimes. Lee just grow up for god sake. Do you really think I would be as pathetic as that to make up a story that a link is infected? Give me some credit. My laptop has a free version of Avast on it. I clicked the link twice and both times it came up with a big red box saying "Warrning Trojan Infection", and it wouldn't open the link. I have no fear of old stories about Just Energy. I knew about these prior to me joining. Its all over the internet if anyone does any DD before joining. They are old stories and nothing to do with Momentis.

To Equal It Up This ruling was made yesterday the Advertising Standards Agency on a Utility Warehouse advertisment that was deemed misleading. The ad breached CAP Code (Edition 12) rules 3.1 (Misleading advertising), 3.7 (Substantiation) and 3.38 (Other comparisons). http://www.asa.org.uk/ASA-action/Adjudications/2012/5/Telecom-Plus-plc/SHP_ADJ_186418.aspx People in glass houses and all that!

John wrote: It also gave me a UW Marketing Director who has 200 reps below him and 1000 clients. Incorrect tilte and incorrect customer count for the old style Marketing Director title. Hmmmm.
John, I have at the last count some 100 odd approaches to join this company from various people here and in the USA - the ones I have spoken too, have told me they have been tasked with targeting UWDC Leaders - you already know I have been in the business for over 14 years. As Stuart said, this really is quite an unethical approach to take. Where Ben has mentioned complaints in the USA, they are against Hudson Energy and their previous names. I have found the same links via Google too. What concerns me most of all is that Momentis appear to be taking the same route as Excell and Vartec Excell, who also targeted UWDC Distributors - then failed miserably, went bust and left customers and their reps in the lurch. Dare I also mention Euphony too? Healthy competition is fine, twisted truth is not. Finally, I received a message that the expected signup fees still in dollars are as follows:
Registration $299 You are thinking about an 80% drop out, could I suggest increasing that to nearer 95%? |

Registration $299 You are thinking about an 80% drop out, could I suggest increasing that to nearer 95%? The sign up fee for UW is £199 ish I believe? The sign up rate for Momentis UK has NOT been decided yet so no one knows, but of course it needs to be below £200. There is no monthly fee for Momentis USA/Canada. There is a fee for the 2 websites and back office functionality. But it is optional NOT compulsory. Who knows what the future holds? What I do know is that Just Energy is about 4 times the size of Telecom Plus and a major player in the utilities market. I can't speak for any of the other companies you mentioned. I have no idea what you mean by "twisted truth". There is certainly none of that from my side. And as far as approaching UW distributors I can say honestly I have made no direct appraoches to any. But I have many of them in my team.

no, the returnable fee for UWDC is just £100 - comes with a 90 day money back guarantee. Just Energy may be four times the size of UWDC, but that is in a market eight times the size, so appears to be under achieving purely on maths terms. As for the monthly fee, why would you run a business without websites and a back office, so I don't see the monthly charge as optional, and nor would any serious business person. BTW forgot to address the ASA complaint. The company broke advertsing standards rules - slap on the wrist and don't do it again is what happens. First upheld complaint in 5 years, and it came from either Virgin or BT, I would expect, but don't know. So simple reording of the advert and all is good. Whereas a complaint upheld by OFCOM or OFGEM could see the company fined or even closed down. Which would worry you more? |

I agree with Laurence once the many people are asked to pay a joining fee the drop out rate will be significant. By the way Laurence If the complaint came from the likes of BT of Virgin the ASA would have declared it . Its a worry though for a footsie 250 company that looking at there website UW leave themselves wide open to further complaints to the ASA.
