Back by popular demand - another bout in the UFC cage

Posted: 4th May 2012 - 15:51 Quote

Hi all,

After the roaring success of the last 5-a-side game (putting injuries aside for a mo), it's seems a lot of the guys are up for a second game. So don your crocks (only joking - please wear appropriate footwear) and grab your socks and get involved. Football

I've booked the 7 a side court at Gol Centre in Newport for 6PM on Thursday 17th May, as the 5 a site court was a little compact. Appreciate 6PM is a little early but the 7 a side court is highly sought after and is booked solid after 7PM until May 2017, or something like that.

Please let me know if you're up for round 2. Giles, I've informed The Gwent, so they've booked you in Wink

Regards, Mark

Really looking forward to this one Mark - and thanks for organising it.

As the air ambulance has recently been grounded, I understand the local hospitals have got a high speeed pursuit vehicle ready to attend in case Giles decides to play again!!

Yeah, me too, Peter, having the larger court this time around should make it a better game, well, I expect it to. Gile is up for playing again, but syas he'll stay in goals, so expect some crazy diving all over the place there then.

If anyone is interested in playing, PM me or shout up on this thread. It's at Newport Gol Centre at 6PM on Thursday 17th May and we have a few spare places, so don't be shy ;-)

Good morning Mark, sadly I missed the last one, but if the 5 a side area was cramped without me, people might have struggled to move around my rotund frame if I had been there. I'm up for this if there's room for a little one. I'm not as mobile as I used to be, I'm not even as skilled, I'm not very light on my feet and I can only move in straight lines these days, but I still know how to put in a good rugby tackle!!

Thanks Peter M for sending me a DM with the details.

Hey Simon, Mad Dog Maynard said he suckered, eh, persuaded you to play. You're more than welcome, I'll make sure you're on my side if your going to be rugby tackling Wink

Anyone else interested in playing?

Really sorry all - but, in my best Duncan Bannatyne voice, "I'm Out" (I just can't make I'm afraid).

Hope you manage to get enough to play though.  You could of course always invite the girls to play (Brimmers & Monster).

Apologies, that should have read, "You could of course always invite the girls to play (and Brimmers & Monster)". ""

Well what a brilliant night!!

Can't decide if my favourite moment was seeing Simon Deacy squeeze into a size small bib, or seeing Dave Hodges finally hit the target in the last minute (only joking Dave!!)

Thanks to everyone for turning out, and to Jelly Tots (aka Mark Bellew) for doing all the organising.

Now for June, and our first "away" match against the Dursley Dads and manager Mark Tomlinson.

I understand 2 Chutes had a scout watching us last night, and given the array of silky skills, slick movement and effortless control on show, I expect them to sue for peace any day!!!

Cruel, so cruel - you told me it was a large! I'm on the 'no bibs' side next time or I'll bring my own tent to wear.

Echoing Mad Dog, thanks to everyone who turned out, I for one could not believe how quick the hour went, so must have been enjoying myself. I think also, a special mention for Giles' first half performance, found the net on a few occasions. Second half was a different story though, we'll just sweep over that. Also, I thought Nick King looked a bit handy when he made the occasional sortie forward. Good times Football
