For some reason Chrome stopped working on my PC today, it just totally refused to boot up.

So I thought a quick uninstall and reinstall would sort it out. Wrong

When I try to download and install Chrome I get "chrome "failed to cache the downloaded installer"

I have done a system restore and that hasnt helped either

Any ideas anyone?

Try turning off you Anti Virus. Have you got anything filtering internet access that could be blocking?

Apart from that download the Chrome off line installer from; http://support.google.com/installer/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=126299

I have a feeling it will work.

+1 for the offline installer - I expect that will sort it!

Nope, neither of those, or combination of those cleared it - Thanks anyway

Seems a few people have the same issue but there is no real solution. I have seen one or two solutions based around reg edits which I will give a go over the weekend.

For now its back to IE9

Do you rely on email for business?

Do you manage email on multiple devices? eg: laptop and smart phone?

Are you sick of wasting time deleting mail and managing your calendar on those devices individually?

Thanks everyone, none of those solutions work. In fact from over 48 hours of Googling the problem I have come to the conclusion that although its a well known problem there is no solution. However, I created my fix by accident and I dont fully understand what happened in the background. This is what I did

1. Gave up on Chrome and started to use IE9

2. Got fed up of IE9 falling over because the Shockwave Flash Add In kept failing so I got rid of it and reinstalled it

3. During the reinstall it asked do I want to download Chrome and make it my default browser, so I ticked yes.

4. It installed an older version of Chrome which worked but kept showing an error message about it not being the latest version.

5. A couple of regedits and that was gone as well.

6. Checked for updates and updated it.

I think by installing an older version (by accident) rather than trying to install the same latest version over and over again, tricked it in to re-embedding its self in to Windows correctly
