Video producers - Olympic Torch relay - great opportunity to promote yourself

I'm probably stating the bleeding obvious, but if you're a video producer you've got a superb brand building opportunity when (or if) the Olympic Torch comes to your town.

Most of the footage being uploaded to YouTube is prettty dire and filmed on iPhones etc. By producing a brief professional video at a strategic point you could end up with a decent number of views. I managed to get 500 in 24 hours for mine. It was embedded on the Glos Echo website and I also sent a link to the school of the girl who was carrying the torch. They've passed it on to all the pupils and parents.

My top tips:

• Stick with one big location, eg. a town centre or major landmark but try and get some footage which tv crews are not covering. Also, some of the smaller locations aren't attracting big crowds.
• The torch is sometimes in convoy without a torch bearer in between towns so don't go into the sticks!
• Find out who the torch bearer(s) are in your footage here and if they're representing a charity or are a school pupil send a link to the charity or the school.
• Tweet it to local reporters - I did that (BBC and ITV) and they were generous in re-tweeting it as it contained footage they hadn't been able to capture.

Or maybe not..The guys in trainers running alongside are Met Police officers.
