OK I get Facebook, and customers from there Wink. Twitter is very useful for my business. Just beginning to get to grips with LinkedIn , thanks to Sam Flynn

But I've had invitations to Google+, Naymz, Branch out on FB plus others.

Is it worth looking at these too.

My customers are usually Small local businesses who want to be found online locally.

Any thoughts?

I've also had a few invites to Naymz and other ones I can't remember the naymz of Tongue Out For me I guess I don't have the time required to fill profiles, build relationships and maintain them across tens of sites. For me the main ones are... 4N (obviously!) LinkedIn, Twitter. I use FB for personal/rockandroll stuff as I think it depends on your business type. Oh...and Yellowtom is great too!

Cheers,

Martin

Andy
I have been on google+ since the start of the year and really started to get int it.
The reason I have engaged with google+ is I enjoy it but also figure that it will have an impact on google rankings for the future.
Helen Child Villiers from Adore Social Media is a great contact and source of info....get in touch and have a chat with her

Best of luck!

Google+ is becoming increasingly important to small business, and even more so with this recent development:

If you need a hand getting the best out of Google+, or any other social media, give me a shout - I incorporate these strategies into a client's full marketing mix on a regular basis and would be pleased to point you in the right direction.

Have a look at the recently released social 100, only Facebook and Twitter were the only sites to have 100% take up of thier sites over the top 100 brands using social.

I'm not saying thats a solid rule by any means, but it gives you an idea what the top brands are using, and you can make educated decisions based on whether you should be following suit.

You can download it here: http://www.socialbrands100.com/

It's all a question of time!

Certainly registering on sites and creating your profile (make sure you note the sites and update your profile when required) does no harm and can bebefit you on search engine results.

Whether you have time to use each of the 200 plus social media sites is entirely another matter!

I recommend that business owners concentrate on Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, have a blog, then add Linkedin and Google Plus if you do have time. (Create a profile though on both)

There is an argument against creating a profile and doing nothing with it though, probably doesn't apply to linkedin as this isn't as much of a content driven platform but I'd always say don't bother with a site if your not going to contribute to it. Nothing worse than an abandoned Facebook page.

Social media strategies that are based around Facebook and Twitter and can be really effective in developing a businesses if used properly. They allow companies to build online communities in which to share and communicate their messages, as well as gaining feedback and insight from customers. It is important that high quality content is regularly sent out and that you follow and get in contact with influential figures that can help build awareness of the brand. This type of strategy should be used in conjunction with digital marketing tools such as SEO, copywriting and white papers.
