London Tube Costs
| Posted: 31st May 2012 - 15:25 Quote | |
Hello On Saturday I am arriving in London (Euston) - I plan to use the tube to Strafford then, Strafford to Hampstead, then Hampstead to Strafford and all on the same day Q1: Does it work out cheaper to gain an all day saver ticket? On Sunday afternoon I am going from Strafford to Euston Q2: I am assuming I just buy a one-way ticket for this journey? Q3: Or can I buy a weekend rover ticket?

I think your best bet is to pick up an oyster card, this then calculates the cheapest over the day. |

If a 1 off trip probably best to use a day ticket. If you make regular trips to London, buy an Oyster card (£5.00) and top up on line once you have started using it. I do regular trips to London and find the Oyster card saves money and you can top them up minimum £5.00 ( I think) at any station. I have also used them on London Overground trains. |

Agree with the oyster card suggestion. I used to get day tickets all the time and saved a fortune getting the oyster card. |

Guys - I get the impression that If I am a regular visitor to London then, the Oyster card is a must However; as this is the first visit for 15 years and I do not intend to retun for a further 15 years (sorry - but, I hate London - to busy) so, I am assuming a daily ticket is a must for only £10 then, a standard single ticket for the Sunday journey |

Even if it's just a 2 day trip, oyster is still the way to go. You can hand it back in once your finished with it and get the £5 deposit back. That said the saving is likely going to be £2-£4 so it may just save you hassle getting the day tickets. |

If you only go every 15 years just take a taxi, the cost per year in taking transport in London in a taxi vs tube will be negligible per year. |

A travel card (valid for multiple journeys per day) would prob be the best in your case and then just a single for the Sunday if that's your sole journey. |
