Its got to be Manic Miner for me. That and Daley Thompson Decathlon on the Spectrum 48k - zx keys were knackered and kept getting trouble for all the noise it was making hammering on the keys. They don't make 'em like that anymore - you can keep your Wii's!!

Yikes this goes back a bit then - misspent youth and all that:
Local pub had:
space invaders (classic)
battle tank
asteroids

...forgot donkey kong!

misspent adulthood (if i ever get there!)
lemmings - addictive
doom - addictive
football manager (sad)

Well done Zoe Chuckie Egg is def the best and most addictive game ever. You can download it online, I had it on my old laptop. Felt slightly different with a laptop kaypad and not a BBC computer, but the graphics and sounds are the same.

For me (due to my era, slightly after the space invaders and pacmans) it had to be Delta Force 2 on the PC which is an FPS probably a couple of years after quake - one of the first PC games to really hit the online gaming big time. Before broadband, most players playing on 56k etc. It got me into web develpment because I geeked out and had a "clan" and we needed a website...little did I know at the time that it would shape my career and ultimately which direction I took in life! From this game stemmed several professional gaming squads...yes there are actually businesses and groups of people that play games for a living...unfortunately I was never good enough.

This thread's brought back some memories! Earliest favourite games of mine were Manic Miner, Football Manager and Atic Atac on the Speccie, then Atari adventure games like Monkey Islandand Leisure Suit Larry.
