Stef/Brad, a scenario: You are doing a 4sight with around 20 people in the room. Every single one of them is looking down at their phones; tweeting, looking at websites, playing Angry Birds, whatever. Are you seriously saying that you don't find that anything disrespectful/anti-social about that? I would know that I REALLY need to work on my material, presentation skills or both! Never happened to me. I have said that I don't find people using their devices whilst I am 4Sighting disrespectful. Never had a whole room full though. |

Stef as you did not turn up after the 10 minutes dead line, I had your beer. But after a few beers I still think it is rude. There are 2 camps here rude or not rude. Very busy people like Brad and your self support this and others do not. And I do not think anything will change, this is a fact of life in 4N meetings. This does not stop me liking the forum or the meetings, I just hope it does not get any worse. By The why Stef, its your round. |

Trying to police is a bit like trying to police 50 social, 50percent business. Ie; pointless and unworkable So it'd ok to use your phone to check for emails if it's important, emergency or tweeting about the meet. So those individusls that don't think the above is rude.. Would have to be informed how would we establish who those people are. Hahha |

Ideally it should be stopped forcing me to switch off for 2 hrs - but ...

Well put Tony. Are mobile phones an adiction for some people kids or adults. And Stef I bought you loads of beers last night, sad to say I had to drink them all when you could not take up the invite, now where is that glass of water. |

Tony, did you not see the special show Jeremy Kyle did from Essex? Jordans ex had her on the show because he felt neglected as she spent to much time on her playstation, she was twittering about it during the show and just as it was ending her 1/2 brothers uncle came running on with two pins and deflated her un-naturals. It ended up with her talking to a surgeon in the audience, she was gonna do some promotion for him if he gave her two new un popable unnaturales great deal hey? Check out facebook mate im sure theres something on there about it

What he said! 4 N spend time and energy encouraging everyone to participate in 4Sights, coaxing the shy and less confident members to put themselves forward and then accept the audience fiddling with their phones? Tweet it later by all means, make notes if you wand (paper and pen can be useful here) but have the decency to give the speaker your full attention for 10 minutes. If your business can't survive 10 minutes of "radio silence" I humbly suggest you take a long hard look at your modus operandii. Alyson |

i am on the fence with this one mainly as I am guilty of doing it. I do tend to find for me it is more during the script than the 40s or 4SS as I have heard it so many times! |

on the subject of using tech totake notes I actually find that my tablet is extremely beneficial. i can set up a document for the meeting, take notes and itbis saved to my dropbox. I can then search for it etc. straight away or in the future if i am recalling a conversation.
i used to make scrappy notes and then leave them to pile up on my desk! |
