Absolutely.. We all have a 4N circle of influence is mine any bigger than any other 4Ners.. probably. Moderately.. but the whole openess of 4N means that (as Karen from Kendlebell did superbly) is if you are waiting for the fone to ring forget it.

Never once did she openly bleat about, the fact that I promoted on 4N and used an alternative supplier.

But she hung on in there, for 6+ months keeping regular (non invasive) and approriate contact. Net result, 4N now use Karen (Kendlebell) to manage inbound 4N calls.

Offer superior service, be approachable, have a fair price and expect to get out, what you put in. Can you win them all. Nope.

But thats ok, cos theres enough to go around and its all poised to get even bigger (4N that is)

Right so, net effect i should stop reccomending Smart Number Mike, to avoid a competitor of yours taking offense. That's ridiculous fella.

Wheres the line drawn?

What about group leaders (who used a developers services) reccomending a web designer over an other within the group.

And jim Davenport PHP / My SQL programmer and online saviour of 4N. Can i not openly big him up in a thread.

Like moderation.. its a slippery slope.

I haven't sugested that...have I?

You CAN and SHOULD recomend who you like thats your call as is using theservices of those businesses that you choose to....

Simply saying, as you supported, that we all have spheres of influence i.e a new member that doesn't know any recomends someone and it will get checked out but it doesn't carry as much weight as when Brad, Forum owner, recomends someone...surely this is just a simpe fact of business life we're dealing with?

Well in which case that why the vendors who have the 4N accounts, rather deftly made a good business call in the routes they took to win those gigs.

Anyways bottom line is, i'm still actively going to promote and reccomend those members who undertake a great service to 4N, it continues to be the right thing to do.

doesn't seem difficult to me - anyone in business is going to use who's best for their business regardless of anything else. Theres no sentiment in business and its wrong to think that because someones got their foot in the door they're going to be there forever, even perhaps a 4N door! - it never pays to take things for granted or be complacent and if someone can offer a genuinely better service/ product package then they're in with a chance but no one will choose them unless they are better. In my field, I have little serious competition but it still doesn't make me think its all there for me come what may, and I have to keep alert to this, just like any other business.

At the end of the day we all have to remember, people buy from people. Just because someone uses a particular service and may like to sing their praises it doesn't automatically mean that it would work for your business!
We are all able to make our own decisions and lets face it, do.
I think that we all have to make sure that it's our own business that people decide to use - don't you?

Thats right Dawn, I think the only concern when you are the owner of the forum is that you dont put businesses off from joining etc by being seen to advocate certain organisations i.e a media company want to join the forum and see that 4n have a strong working relationship with the moo's and decide not to get involved perhaps feeling that they would struggle to compete against the 'the fourum favourites' It kinda fits with what we were talking about when we said that the forum can get clicky and sometimes hard for new people to fit .....

Lastly it could be conceivable that you could be recommending the services of 'free' online only members when there are paying members (customers) in similar fields etc....
Yes it's proper that Brad should have a voice but 4N isn't a socialist business movement, as Brad himself would acknowledge it's a for profit business and there for does have a duty towards it's customers that they will recieve equal treatment in exchamge for ther money..

The point however that Brad can use and recommend the services of any business that he sees fit is totally his choice and a perfectly valid one at that....
