I hear this question asked over and over again so I thought I would ask it on here for you all to chip in.

If you have a website, and especially an ecommerce website, what would be your top advice for driving visitors to it?

Hi Sara,  I am sure the SEO guys will be on here shortly.  In the meantime I would recommend that you set yourself up a google account and check out the webmaster guidelines -  loads of good advice out there.  And look at setting up a google merchant account with an RSS feed from your website.

If you are considering doing the SEO work yourself, check out Gareth's website because he does online courses on SEO (clickwork media).

PPC is the fastest way to drive traffic to the site, and if it's a good ecomm site, and you setup a decent PPC campaign with relevant negative keywords.... then maybe, just maybe there'll even be a  + ROI

But further than that, it's a 32 volume answer.

It's the $64,000 question.

It's a symphony of lots of different mechanisms....

Long enough to cover the subject material,

but short enough to keep things interesting."

Hi Sara

Top tip: targeted traffic is your true aim - look at Gareth's examples and then apply them to your market.

Focus on buying keywords - the ones where people are typing one-handed because their credit card is in their other hand (it was burning a hole in their pocket).

With things like electronics, they've drilled down to the model number, same applies to other markets.
