To Lease or not to Lease?, that is the question!

Hi all, We have recently started up a short term vehicle leasing franchise and I would just like to gauge everyones opinion on the use of lease cars in business or for individuals with car allowances. Do you think it is a good idea, do you think it is economically viable? OR Do you think it is a bad idea and does not work for you or your company? I'm interested to hear what you guys have to think, with the changes in car allowances and benefit in kind levels recently it would be good to get an insight into how the business owners and individual users feel about the subject! Thanks |

Hi paul In a previous life I ran a leasing company with about 1500 vehicles on hire at its peak . In answer to your question I am sure you will find plenty of customers who want short term leases ie nice car reasonable rental no or little commitment. the tricky part is determining which customers you want. my advice would be be very choosy about who you lease too!! I would be happy to share my experiences if you want a chat. nevil |

Oooo...lots of tax questions hidden in here and as always when it comes to chosing a car, the tax answer is 'it depends'. Co2 emmissions are what you must keep an eye on. Not only for your businesses taxes but also how you might be taxed personally. There are some great cars out there with Co2 emmissions that do the job...but as always with cars...its about getting the balance right between what you want to drive and what you want to pay!
PM me if you'd like to ask more questions. |

Hi there, it's definitely viable, short term leasing is a good sector, we do get a lot of clients from it. You just have to establish a solid marketing plan and figure who you want to reach and how you want to reach them. Feel free to talk to us if you want any help. |

Following on from Daniel's post, for some businesses leasing can be more efficient to get the business tax relief quicker but again it depends on the vehicle and the business. |
