Interesting as my answer kind of fuses the above answers. Much of soical media (my perception) is about people (businesses) talking about themsleves with the end purpose being somekind of self / shared - gain / promotion. From a human communicational / interaction pont of view I think it is brilliant - and breaks down a lot of barriers. Then I become a little more cynical about it as people use it as stated initially. my takie = social MEdear! |

I use Twitter to communicate with people and as Zoe mentioned it lets me get my personality across to people better than I could do on our website (have to be somewhat professional on your website!). I think Twitter is handy for quick messages and enquiries and have had a few deals come through because of having conversations on there. I wouldn't ever buy from a Twitter "Ad" though - those self proclaiming "Deal x for y this week [link]" - I want to have conversations with people on there, not be sold to (not blatantly anyway) so I never do these sorts of tweets myself. |
