I understand that certain companies need to get people interested in their product. I also understand the benefits of cold calling (particularly if you use someone good like Sue Pell or Helen Davies) but honestly, there is no excuse for the rubbish I received today.

Conversation went like this

Hi Katie. I dont know where I know you from, maybe at a My Shopping Genie Meeting?

Er. No.

Oh In that case im not sure, I have your details anyway so I thought i'd give you a call. Would you be interested in joining (not naming the company but it's momentally popular at the moment).

Er. No. Bye.

Is it me or is this a very big bucket of fail? Also why can't people just learn how to market their business properly instead of spamming people like me who get very stroppy about said spamming and then go on and whinge about it on things like this.

They can't afford to ring me!

Mind you, having just spent 9am - 6pm without electricity (normal in these parts), maybe they could help me!

You should file a claim for 'emotional distress' caused by them calling you! Once it's settled hopefully they'll be bankrupt and go away. Win-win! Tongue Out

Thing is with these MLM schemes is the entry level is very, very low. There's no training on basic human interaction/ marketing skills and there's rarely any communication between those that have signed up and the person that sold them the CD full of names/ numbers.

Momentis isn't the only one that's full of pointless schlepworkers* but it's the one with the most false dreams being posted everywhere - at the moment (there'll be another along in a few months).

Look at something like UW or Forever Living for a second, there's some awesome people involved who are making a good living out of them, and good luck to them, but on the flip side there's an awful, awful lot of awful, awful people that simply see them as a get rich quick scheme that just takes an hour of work each week for 6 months before you get given a yacht.

Sadly MLM isn't the only industry that is full of cowboys - my industry is the same where people think that simply paying a small fortune to an affiliate template house means that they are fully qualified 'web designers'.

I feel sad for these people as they'll never lift themselves out of the cycle of spending their giro on the next 'get rich quick' scheme/ lose it all/ move onto the next one.

The only way to earn a good living is to earn a good living.

*schlepworking - the scattergun approach to pushing your next 'get rich quick' scheme down everyones throat.

I actually had a PM yesterday outlining the benefits of joining, that was after posting a sarcastic reply. At the end of the day it's all a load of bollox but the gullbile few will fall for it. It's all a numbers game.

On a positive note I echo your remarks on Sue Pell, (Top Girl)

Kev

#Snigger

That is largely my view too.

Having said that, I'm not sure of the etiquette of jumping on their blatant ads and tearing them a new one.  Surely you (the generic "you") wouldn't do that to most people's blatant ads, even if you didn't necessarily think they were good/it was a good deal.  Unsure why Momentis ones should be any different.  I say this as someone who recently had a blatant ad highjacked, thankfully upon request Stef deleted the comment.

I understand your comment but this is a public forum where everyone is free to express themselves (as long as they stick to the rules).
Morally right or not, if you don't want a conversation, don't post on a public forum.

Where people hijack an ad simply to promote their own stuff, that should be restricted.
