The Finchley 4N branch launched earlier this year and got off to a great start - but numbers have dwindled and several meetings have been cancelled recently so morale is more than a bit uncertain. Rather than sit around kvetching about this situation, I'd like to make a few suggestions and put out a a call to action to ALL 4N members. I'm not doing this in any official 4N capacity - I'm just a regular punter but would really like to put Finchley back on the map!

1. Please could 4n website managers add Finchley to the list in the drop-down Find my nearest group list under Meetings?  It would help for visitors to the website if they knew Finchley existed!

2. Since we don't currently have a marketing manager, we need all the help we can get with recruiting members and promoting meetings. If any 4N members - yes YOU - even if you're on the other side of the country!  have any contacts, colleagues, friends, clients, relatives, old school friends who live or work in the Finchley area, please tell them about our wonderful 4N group and encourage them to come along.

It would really help if 4N members who use twitter and facebook and other social media could help to spread the word. We're a relatively small group but we're diverse (lots of different industries represented) and many of us are experienced networkers with a genuine commitment to helping others and making this work! We also meet in a fabulous venue, the lovely new Kaixo Cafe  where the standard of breakfast is really appreciated.

3. Finally, if you're a Finchley member, please do book up for the  next meeting - we'd love to see you!

Many thanks,

Hello Juliet,

We at Bexleyheath(Evening) group are also a new group earlier this year and are facing the same problems as you. Our last meeting had to be cancelled due to a low number of members that had booked. Other groups I've attended have been really full. We are a team leader down at the moment and looking for a new Group Leader.

I will be following your post to see what advice other 4N members give.

Regards

Hi Juliet,

I've passed this onto John Corey, the Regional Leader for London.

Specifically with regard to your point about the meeting list, Finchley is listed and in keeping with the rest of the groups is listed as "London Finchley".

Juliet,

Some great suggestions.

To slightly restate one, what I hear is it woudl be good to set the person's location and then show groups that are close to that location. Almost a search by postcode. Is that broadly correct?

One solution for #1 which will come close to your suggestion is the 'map' page of the 4Networking site. When I pull it up, I see all of London and the areas just outside. I can zoom in or hover over each pin to get more info. Check out the link. http://www.4networking.biz/Events/Map Does this help with what you are suggesting?

I do like your call to action for #2. If a few members from around the network were to invite folks to Finchley, it could work wonders. Simialr for London folks who have friends outside of London. We can recommend groups outside of London and suggest they book in.
