Are you an entrepreneur

Today I was talking with someone and they said they classed me as an entrepreneur, I disagree with this! Yes a successful business person, but I feel the word or tag of entrepreneur is all to freely and cheaply used in todays age.
It just seems to me that anyone starts up a business and automatically classes themselves as an entrepreneur in this day and age, do you agree or disagree? |

Wikipedia's main definition is as follows - an enterprising individual who builds capital through risk and/or initiative, then yes I believe you are. Although I agree that it is an overused term. I think it has to be measured by a number of things by turnover, management of people and the sucess of the business in the sector it is in. There are probably a few more people can through into the mix. |

For me it would be building a succession of profitable businesses. Not every single one has to be successful, all the greats have had embarassing failures at some point, that's how we learn. However, the way I see it, creating and running one successful business could just be down to luck. If you manage to make a success out of 2 or 3, it suggests you've got something going for you. Also, anyone I've ever met who called themselves an entrepreneur has always been an arrogant @#%$. |

I would total agree with this! Agree again. I have met someone who described themselves as a "disruptive thinker" and I thought "complete w@er"

It is totally overused! Surley to be an entrepreneur you have to be succesful recently I have come across more and more "entrepreneurs" and yes its used loosely and my general opinion is no you are not successful.. anybody can set up multiple companies but if you cant have one making money then its pointless! |

People have called me a young entrepreneur... so I've used that on my LinkedIn...
- I'm young What am I? Because I don't like using the word entreprneur, as everyone says it's used too much. But I want something to describe myself... |

entrepreneur = lazy label used to describe a person who spends their time flitting from one idea to the next, essentially without a core business. |

I think it is massively overused. I have turned down speaking and interview opportunities where people wanted me to appear amongst a group described as 'entrepreneurs'. I'm just not. I do stuff which pays my bills and supports my kids. |
