The hook wasn't in the URL being ditributed on notes. The hook was in sky news and every other 24h running the footage of the chaos that ensued on Oxofrd street when you through it all up in the air and youtubed the result. It'd make worldwide news and also the broadsheets and red tops would cover it, plus specialist marketing press.. |

I'd buy shares in 4N and sit back while Brad ran around throwing money all over Oxford Street |

Initially they won't believe it and won't send anybody. The "event" itself only lasts 3 mins or 15 mins, something like that?
Invest a fiver beforehand and try to throw it high up in the air beforehand.
One of the many challenges is to have enough good film crews there. iPhones for filming ain't enough, me thinks.

Agreed, plus as Lee said there's better things to report on - it's hardly going to be breaking news or a front page headline even if you do convince someone to come along. In terms of a publicity stunt it's on par with making the worlds biggest sausage roll - might attract some press, most likely local, and even then probably you're probably only looking at a couple of column inches if you're lucky, or a minute in the "in other news". £5,000 in cash isn't actually a lot of bits of paper so the (non) event would be blink-and-you'll-miss-it; plus I'd bet my left nut that there'd be at least one incident of somebody falling over and getting injured, or causing an accident by running out into the road after a note - if that happened then you'd certainly have more chance of attracting press attention, and maybe a couple of lawsuits. This guy supposedly threw £20k at a pedestrian crossing - got a little bit of attention, some of it fro the police, but not much more than that:
Far more creative things you could do with £5k, but happy to be proven wrong if you're paying :P |

So this idea is a little bit dead now, right? Nevermind. What counts much more than this is the sheer fact that there was one man actually having an idea.

There were quite a few people posting their ideas for how they'd spend the £5k, unless I've misread the replies? |

I'd stamp my web address on £5,000 and throw it down Oxford street and film the mayhem. Then watch as Sky TV and every national news paper runs with the story. I would use fake money and put your web address on it and say 'to turn this into real money, visit this website....' x
