Lee, it is sad but I have to take my phone on holiday to.

As The Computer Technician is just me.

I only use it to book jobs in.

Martin, if you want a week off, use a call answering service like Jam who can take your calls and book your jobs in so you can relax, also have someone you can pass any urgent jobs.

I realised at xmas, I needed time to myself to really make it work for me, I now work certain times and I take time off, I turn the phone off and do something away from the pc.

It has helped me function better and actually enjoy what I do more.

The certainty of a pay cheque / salary. Being your own boss and if a startup can be challenging till the income stream is regular.

having someone to talk to all the time and the fact that I then didn't have to put up with the comment "when are you going to stop being self employed and go back to a proper job".... however given I was made redundant twice, held hostage when working in a prison and generally treated like s**t not much :) however I do miss seeing my colleagues running around like headless chickens when Ofsted were appearing! I do of course work for the NHS as bank staff so sort of have a proper job as well just not within Education!

Free tea and coffee and an open stationery cupboard, but that's about it.
