Hw many hours do you "work" each week? best guess..

Great question! In my previous life many, many years ago, as a tractor and combine driver, during summer I could literally start at 7.30am and knock off at midnight for 7 days a week for 6 weeks on the trot (my fiance, now wife for over 20 years, even fed me roast beef and Yorkshire pud one Sunday evening as I drove the combine). The Autumn got easier when we tended to knock off at 10pm. Hours aren't everything, achievement is. Especially when you have family around you. Our 4Sight this morning at St Neots from Roy Wood talked about working 7 days a week, but taking 12 weeks holiday a year is another way of doing it. Each to their own. The bitter pill of experience tells me to pace myself and trying to work excessive hours is counter productive. |

Hours aren't everything, achievement is. Absolutely. Work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion. You can prove this to yourself the next time you prepare to go on holiday. Somehow, things get done quicker when you only have a day left to get everything sorted. And that's the reason why you should never pay someone by the hour. The more inefficient he is, the more you end up paying him. The other side of the coin - you should never charge by the hour. You might make a living but you won't make a fortune that way - exchanging your time for money. Get paid by results and I bet you'll be more efficient and end up accomplishing more in less time. I've just spend the whole afternoon on the beach - as the sun is shining. Probably the last week of the British summer! Won't affect my bottom line in any way.

Im sticking to 40. one of the reasons for setting up was to get the work/life balance. Worn the tee-shirt on the 60 hours plus those days are gone. Nicola |

It was mad before the holidays... July and August are rather quite. Busy September coming up, then will probably have to work many weekends again. |

55-60 I reckon, give or take. Working hard at the moment to change a few things and introduce systems which will reduce that or free up a few hours for other things. |

I work long hours while the work is in, I have just done nearly a months work in 9 days. I will be taking 3 days of this month so this is good. I to was at 4N St Neots, and I am with Dan B on this one, you need to find your own balace. I could turn work down but I can have gaps of 6 to 10 days on bad months were no work comes in. I can not brake people's PC's on demand to suit my work life balance. |
