The right age to marry, in US and Canada

I am involved in an international charity event for some 100 university students from all over the world. When they now register for a get-together event we do, a handful of them asked if their respective husbands/wifes can join for this event. This question comes mainly from US and Canadian students. These students are +/- 20 years old. In the UK I'd imagine marriage is uncommon or almost unheard of at that age. Is that different in US/Canada? Can anybody shed some light on this?

Agree. More people still see marriage as a prerequsite to living together in the US/Canada whereas in UK couples just move in together nowadays. I got married at 23 by the way and that was quite normal 75 years ago. |
