Amongst yesterday's bad news about unemployment from JCB, Waterford Wedgewood etc. it was good to see that between them Morrisons (5,000), Sainsburys (4,000) and Iceland (2,500) are creating 11,500 new jobs this year.

Those are big numbers of new jobs. Bigger than some of the reductions announced. I wonder why the BBC didnt front line this information!

However, it is good to hear that not all is bad news, and that some businesses are growing. Businesses can, and many do, use times like this as an opportunity.

Food retailing is one sector that can stay strong. There are many others.

Tough times = opportunity times!

Everyone seems to be comfort eating to get over the medias blanket reporting that we are in a recession and the world is about to end.

I know its very very tough for some that have lost their jobs etc, but the media really isn't helping!
