Hello from Penny in North Somerset

Hi,
I have just started working full time as a hypnotherapist in the north Somerset area, after doing it part time for a while, thanks mainly to being made redundant from my job as an art editor for a music mag. However I much prefer doing this. I'd like to say hi to everyones firstly and how do people find networking in general? I did do some networking lunches a few years back when I was a web designer, but it never really helped, just cost me a lot of money - any tips from the pros?

Hi Penny, Sorry to hear about your redundancy but great news about starting your hypnotherapy I am fairly new to networking - having always had a rather dark view of other organisations I had been a part of. The one thing I cannot stand about networking is suits, ties and stuffyness. Being put in a room where there's a general air of "my business is better than yours" was one of the most horrific networking lunches I ever experienced and put me off for several months. That said I have since the end of last year been participating in some more laid back sessions and this is what has drawn me to the 4Networking setup - as someone explained to me "it's networking but without the b*&&*%ks." I am hoping to get to my first 4N event on Wednesday - maybe its worth you trying out one in your area to dip your toe in the water Charlie |

Welcome to 4N online Penny, The best tip I could give you is to be yourself and get stuck in. Give people a chance to get to know you and build the trust and I am sure business and referrals will come your way |

Welcome Penny Most upsetting to be made redundant, same happened to me recently too. As one door closes, another opens, they say! I would agree with Stuart, just be yourself and, above all, enjoy it. 4Networkers seem a really supportive bunch of people, so you've picked a great organisation. |
