If I had a penny for everytime my name was misspelt I would be a very rich man. It is very unusual for someone to get both first and second name correct. Because it happens so often I have pretty much accepted it, however the one thing that does get me is when I am referred to as McDonald. People hear the Mac/Mc and assume the rest...

On a vaguely related matter, I used to live next door to a McDonald and his first name was Ronald !! and to be fair to his parents he was christened before the fast food chain started........

Slighty different note - my surname is simple yet consistently I am asked how it is spelt.

How many different ways is RYAN spelt!

In fact I am aware that there is a Ryun but it is very rare.

Moira..that sounds irritating.

You know what ..this is going to be a very long thread!!

As I have two Christian names and no Surname, I called by either easily.

I am kind of used to it now...call me anything you like, but get the name right on the cheque.....
