You might be lucky without spending too much money, depends if the sectors on the disk where the file was have been overwritten yet.

I've PMd you a couple of options, although you may have already tried them.

Good luck.

Shouldn't be a problem Chris. I'll be in touch in the morning unless you already have it sorted?

Hi Chris,

This is a common problem. Maybe we should ahve a chat about off site data storage and disaster recovery? You can make a very healthy income stream from it and its very inexpensive - in average it costs around 30p per gb! No hidden costs. Let me know if you would like to receive some info about it.

Thanks and have a good weekend.

Hi Chris
Sorry, can't help you but rather shocked that if a drive has been formatted twice, it's still possible to get data from a drive!!!!!

I now think of all the drives I have formatted and discarded in the past, thinking they were 'clean'.... OMG!

Perhaps this would be a good subject for a 4Sight from one of the PC guys...

Phil - it's funny you should mention the 4Sight as it's one of the ones I do!

I also note that Lee Brookes has recommended Sue - that is not to be taken lightly given Lee's skills.

You need special software to 'demolish' the data structure of a hard drive. You can get it free but its better to put it into the hands of the Pro's and get them to do it for a standard fee.

The MOD use the same software that one of my contacts uses and they specialise in getting the information BACK......... tricky stuff.

One of my clients had a similar situation a little while ago.

Against my advice [of using a professional], he went the route of trying to recover the data for himself - lost the lot.

When he eventually took it to a specialist, there was nothing useful that they could recover.

Honestly... if you want the data back, give it to someone who knows what they are doing.
