i got 3 points for doing a little over 30 so 48mph is way over..expect 3 minimum unless they offer you that course to go on to become a better driver

Three points , but I have used a company that has helped my drivers get away with some ( If wanted Ill get you the details)

Is there any reason you can appeal it ?

ok, your forgiven then :/ not that it's really any of my business. I'm not sure what the damage is. I know my father-in-law got caught doing 34 and got a fine and had to sit in a lesson about speeding or something to that effect, I can't really remember. it might be a fine and points. Have you had the ticket through, because they might not have caught you. You might be lucky and get away with it.

A fortnight ago I got 3 points and a £60 fine for doing 42 in a 30 zone - was going through some roadworks on an A road where its usually 60 - we'd just dumped the kids at the inlaws for the weekend and I think I was in a bit of a rush to escape!

Just found this chart on instant bans (looks liek your safe from being banned - just)

30 mph In excess of 51 mph 40 mph In excess of 66 mph 50 mph In excess of 75 mph 60 mph In excess of 85 mph 70 mph In excess of 100 mph

It seems below this and you can get between 3 - 6 points and a fine.

if you've done the crime you should do the time...

thats easy, make the wife wear the points and you pick up the fine. thats what most fellas do. you obviously have a few `team management' issues i suggest a quick trip down the stairs if you run into touble.

Brad, I did a Speed Awareness Driving Course. The cost was the same as the fine plus my time to do it (almost a full day) and it avoided any points on my licence. If this is your first offence in 3 years then you may get this. HTH
