Hi all.

I'm really stuck on this project :P and I would really appreciate any help that can be offered by anyone.

First of all I'm a startup web designer and haven't been running for a great deal of time, so I still have a lot to learn and experience to gain. I suppose I better be honest about this right now...

I've got a client who's site I have to redesign and his html pages are wrapped in some sort of TML tag, yes TML not HTML. There's a TML include at the top of the file and at the bottom for header and footer files respectively. I'm not familiar with these as I myself use either server side includes or PHP includes.

Anyway, I could just ignore the TML tags and only deal with the code within, which I've been advised to do by the programmer who implemented the site initially, however when I open these files I get the code on a single line following the TML tag.

Apparently this is due to the site being coded for UNIX and is an issue with the way that windows implements carriage returns. I've never come across this before and the odd thing is that when viewing the page source in any browser it looks fine, but when viewing the index.html using Expression Web, Dreamweaver, or even notepad, it all comes out on a single line.

Is there a basic setting that I haven't checked, or am I completely buggered?

Thanks for reading and I've kind-of half accepted that I've probably lost the client by now, but there's still a chance.

Regards,
Jaabir

TML could be a php library like codeigniter and zen framework.

Download Notepad2 or Notepad++ and ditch Expression Web. It's bloated and not worth it's salt.

I use notepad2 for all my coding, it has syntax highlighting and is so much easier than dw and EW.

Hi Gareth. Thanks for replying.

Tried notepad2 even changing the line endings setting to Unix, and still no luck.

Probably will have to call it a day on this one.

Thanks again. :)

Transducer Markup Language is primarily used to capture or integrate data from different sources.

In other words, if you have no idea what it is, it can get very messy!

Transducer Markup Language? So that's what it is! Thanks Lee.

Oh well. You win some, you lose some. LOL
