Don't. I can't even talk about it. People going on and on and on makes me want to end it all.

The same people that abuse it, by waffling on for 9 hours about some pointless gig they are trying to promote, are the same people who get the hump when you have to cut them short.

Most of the time we either have no announcements, or maybe one or two that are brief. But this person wanted to raise 3 points and waffle on, and actually became quite aggressive in their body language when we tried to curtail them.

It is a tough one. I dont find, as a rule, it adds much, and although I loved the idea when it started, it is an opportunity for conflict right at the end when you have no time to claw back the change in atmosphere.

Bin it.

It adds no value to the meeting whatsoever and can make for a woolly, waffly finish rather than a crisp one. As someone said earlier, the last thing you want at the end of a meeting is any bad feeling or any extra time added on when there's no chance to make it up.

Nobody will miss it when it's gone.

If it does get binned I think that is a real real shame. another case of a few people taking the piss messing it up for the rest of us!

Surely its up to the GL's to manage this.

Personally I think a note should go out to all GL's to tighten the reigns on this. AL's and RL's can also have words to make sure the GL's know what's expected.

Whoo hoo great news! I hate them..... if there was anything 'serious' that needed a mention at the end then I would let that go but on the whole I think they are a waste of everyones time!

Katie M ... what are you announcing as an AL ? I seem to be very quiet :/

I see so many abuse this system, either banging on for 40-60seconds or using it as another sales pitch opportunity.

As a result, i'm close to binning it across the network.

Its so sad, but when you are in employee and you say you got to get back to work at 1030 and a meeting ends late becuase of a selfish "10 second announcment" i think it flies in the face of everything 4N stands for.

I'd be interested to hear you view on this.

Pre write them and have the GL make the announcements. If we are coming down on timings can we come down on the repeat offenders of the 2 minute 40 second CV, it's annoying, disrespectful and just plain bad manners.

Bin it...too many people take the Mick and it's unfair to expect a GL to tell folk to shut up in the middle of their waffle. We've tried the need to see the GL approach but then others just jump on the band wagon. It's often as not to push something they're doing again as they'd already pushed it in th 40 second slot. The other issue is you can end up with 20 10 second (or 30) announcements! Please Bin It
