I am looking to send out a brief online SNAP survey to the whole of our database to start a cleanse process and quantify our clients.

Our internal CRM System won't log bounces, opens etc so I want to use an emailing system which will log this for me (once they go onto the survey this is logged via SNAP).

I've used Mailchimp before, but I have had problems with them with regards to data recently, and with this being an initial cleanse process, I am looking for a cost effective system.

What providers are out there (other than mailchimp and constant contact), and what ones would you recommend?

I will declare an interest up front on this one - I re-sell a product called SME-Mailer, which is fully hosted and managed in the UK - and not too expensive to use.

We can offer all the services available from Mail Chimp and Constant Contact, along with some UK based support from me as required.

SME-Mailer can manage your list, log bounces, opens (including who opened & when), unsubscribes etc. all via an online portal.

We have a range of ready built templates on the site, or you can upload your own HTML template as required.

We've been using a system called Smart Messages (www.smartmessages.net) from Brighton company, Synchromedia, for the past 4 years and have recommended them to loads of people. It is just a small company, but they work with some v. big clients, yet always look after us minnows too.

We provide a range of Email Marketing Services, and there are two options that may be relevant to you :

1. Bulk Emailing to send out your survey. We can then send you a report (in Excel or CSV format) with the recipients who opened / bounced / unsubscribed or forwarded your email. You can then use the report data to update your CRM system.

2. We can also arrange to provide the combined survey + emailing service and send you a combined report (in Excel or CSV format) which you can use to update your own CRM system.

If you can get a plugin/extension to your CRM system for better email marketing then that could save you a lot of time and hassle in the longer-run.

The biggest problem with stand-alone email services is that not only do you have to export your contact lists from the CRM each time, you also need to manually take the response data - especially 'broken' email addresses and opt-outs - and upload that into your CRM, so that your master system is properly up to date.

It can also be very useful for consultants and sales people to have campaign responses recorded in the CRM system so they have an excuse to get in touch or something else to keep the dialogue going when they meet clients.
