I have just had a call from these people offering me all sorts of things and trying to guarantee front page of google and all the rest of it. First of all they asked me about an entry I have on a free online wedding directory and then they started on about google and facebook. I did point out that they couldnt guarantee anything not even first page of google but they were adamant that they could. They claim to have links with google and all the search engines where they will guarantee first page on google for £99 on a PAYG basis and for this I would get my own account manager (I could ring him 24hrs a day) and would pay for 5 key phrases (normal cost £20 per phrase) but they only allow 5 phrases at a time. They also guarantee first page on facebook for adverts at a cost of £49 but are willing to throw this in for free this month. Then the sales rep tried to say that they only cover one trade member at a time so for Birmingham I would be the only wedding planner listed. I smell a very large rat and have asked that they send some information so that I can read over it and then say yay or nay - I actually have no intention of signing up for this because I think it is a con but just want to know if anyone has come across them? Anyway, if I want to get onto the first page of google then I have to keep posting on 4N and I can do that for free. |

Hi Denise, I would be as suspicious as you on this one - if they can sign up 100 people at £99 by cold calling all day they will not be doing too badly - and what value is the guarantee they offer? Once they have your cash, if they fail to deliver do you get your money back, or do they just say sorry? Personally I would pass on this one regards Les |

Thanks - it is what I thought..even worse they don't offer a contract so therefore they could take my money and run. I can do my own google ads and facebook ads (not that I want to use them) and I already get around 300 hits a month on my website/blog so I don't need Precision Media. They are very good at sweet talking but I don't buy from cold callers...just be warned if they ring you. |

In my opinion, this is what makes the website market like a used car sales market. I imagine, having taken 100s of these calls, they actually mean a "sponsored listing for your own business name". |

They must think I came down in the last shower. |

Denise, as Doug said this company are disguising the fact that they are offering a Sponsored Listing or Pay Per Click Advertising. They therefore can guarantee top spot , but for how long and for how many clicks they do not mention. My company are one of the Top SEO companies in the UK, and if you put in SEO on Google you will find us Top of Page One on Google in the UK. Equally we will come Top for Web Design. As you quite rightly say you cannot be Guaranteed to be Top on Google, but we have thousands of clients around the country and those that have our SEO service are not contracted and will therefore only keep it going if it is working for them. You talk about the amount of visitors you get to your website, but the real question is how many targetted and relevant visitors are you getting, and are they actually doing business with you. If you feel like a chat any time then please PM me I would be really glad to help. You could also click on either of the sites below if you would like to find out more, and the brand new TalktoGary site should hopefully offer some useful advice.
Regards

I've just hung up on a call from Precision Media, apologising for the fact that my last campaign with them didn't go so well. Apparently it was "because it was over the Christmas period" and "because we read left to right, people were clicking on the natural links rather than the sponsored ones". Really - that's what i've just been told. Hilarious. Now, I've never had an account with anyone called Precision Media, but I was sucked in (briefly) by Matchmaker Marketing. And searching for both names together, I found this: http://www.complaintsboard.com/complaints/scam--precision-media-c363200.html According to that page, they also go by the names Storm Media and Key World (or Keyworld) Media. Speaking from first-hand experience of Matchmaker, avoid, avoid, avoid. Hope that helps! Rob |

Glad to see you weren't taken in by these claims. I know a few people locally who have been. I found this useful article recently; questions to ask when hiring an SEO agency which will hopefully give others an insight into the kinds of things they need to watch out for. |
