Clients wife!...lunch..The Upstairs Downstairs Cafe in Halifax- my review!

I met Tony Ryalls through 4N - a lovely man with a very genuine welcoming smile every time you meet him! During his 40 seconds pitch he talks openly about the highs and lows of running a business and how 4N has helped him. Perhaps most Cafe owners wouldn't think that Networking could work or bring in new customers but how wrong could they be as Tony had 2 new visitors today- simply by talking passionately about his business-The Upstairs Downstairs Cafe in Halifax.

When Tony talks about their lovely home cooked food, freshly prepared veg and the importance of great customer service then you simply want to go and experience it for yourself. I did just that today and decided to take a clients wife out to dinner!

The Cafe was easy to find with nearby parking and we were greeted with a very warm smile by Sue- which I later learned was Tony's partner.

The Cafe was very clean and inviting with little bistro tables outside. There was plenty of seating indoors and outdoor seating was all under cover.

We both chose Steak Pie, Mash, 2 veg and gravy and it really was superb!! There was none of that cheap gristly meat, none of that packet mash stuff or tinned veg here! No sir.. This was Cafe food at its best! I don't know who made the pie but WOW!!

The real jewel in the crown was Tony taking the time to come out of the kitchen to say hello when he was at his busiest!

The price was spot on and you certainly got plenty on your plate. We only wish we had room for pudding but my client's wife and I have made a pact that we will come again- just so we can work our way down the menu!

My client and his wife work and live in Halifax and I know they will take friends, family and work colleagues to sample the delights of the Cafe. This is Networking! This is bringing in new custom! This is 4N!!!

I am the owner of a property in Halifax but I moved away last January so it is currently rented out - what a shame as the Cafe sounds lovely! Where abouts is it?

It's right next to the Market Place. A great spot as the shops are all around you so it's really well situated when you have loads of shopping and need somewhere to stop for lunch and refreshments.

I highly recommend it- especially that pie!

Traci, it was lovely to see you both and I hope the visit with your clients wife worked, as she did seem to be enjoying the experience. It's great to see how 4N has developed over a period of time to encompass friendship, business relationships and overall people investment and by that I mean people invest with people they meet like and trust as Martyn says.

Thanks Tony for the lovely reply and the reminder of my first 40 seconds pitch saying I offer personal services. I got over 380 hits on the 4N site...ha ha and it was an honest mistake but such a good Ice breaker as people still comment on that even today!

I've not stopped raving about your cafe and that lush steak pie. I honestly hope people come and pay you a visit, they won't be disappointed and my client's wife was very impressed with the whole experience so thank you!
