Returned from holiday at 3am this morning and have just got around to reviewing the numbers having attended and/or booked for our 4N meetings in Devon in the month of August. Very low across the board.

Makes me wonder if 4N wouldn't be better off closing down completely in August.

Thoughts?

Not everyone goes on holiday in August - I'm away in September.

Groups I've attended in the last week or so all seem to ok with numbers - possibly no more than one or two down. Fleet/Farnborough has been locked out twice,

I think some passporters make use of the empty roads and travel further during the light summer mornings.

No, I wouldn't close my business down for a whole month.

Sometimes small groups are nice you can have a chat to nearly everyone before the meeting starts.

Would like to say you could have longer than 10mins on your 121(not sure allowed).

Also for some people it really is the thing that gets them fired up in the morning and gets that positive vibe going, and motivates them for the rest of the day/week.

Kind Regards

Nicola Dickinson

Definitely not! We have many members for whom it is much easier to network during the school holidays. Plus the roads are clearer. Plus I have no intention of closing my business down during the Summer AND I have paid 4N for 12 months membership, not 11 months!

No.. I took my family with me on a trip this week and they loved it.

Went to Hertfordshire to attend a seminar on Monday and then Ware 4N today. The family came with me and enjoyed their time in a different location and the kids loved being in a hotel... could not do it any other time of the year.

Hello

Well the consensus is no - but I do get the feeling that large parts of the UK business seem to close down in August.

Mind you the roads are quieter - great for travelling.

We don't go on holiday here in the Smoke.:/ Most of the mtgs have been locked out or close to it over the last month so not much sign of numbers dropping off here. As others have said, most of us don't have the luxury of closing down over Aug and the breakfasts are great way of keeping motivated!

And the roads may be clearer - but unfortunately the Tube isn't :(

Another 'no' - what's happening in your area/region does not reflect the network UK-wide; one of our groups up here just hit a record high for attendances last week

No way!

At Chippenham August has been brilliant - FULL of people from Devon! (Only joking!)

We have had some good meetings and attendances.

We had to close the two Oxon meetings last week simply because all the team picked the same week to go away so there weren't enough people around to run the groups! But before that we had around 20 at the meetings, and we have 20 booked in for tomorrow too. So no, generally I don't think they should shut unless absolutely necessary!

I'm in the NO camp too - we've been locked out for both August meetings so far & have 32 booked in for Tuesday 31st and that's the day after Bank Holiday.

Maybe everyone leaves Devon to escape the tourists in school holidays? Roads probably busier there than usual rather than quieter?

Close Business Breakfast meetings for an entire month at a time when many self employed people enjoy the freedom to network more?! What a crazy idea!

August 2010 has been one of our most buzzing months in terms of numbers across the network AND we are fastly approaching what may be our most successful month EVER in terms of membership signups and renewals.

4N takes it's 10 days or so holiday between Christmas and New Year, I think that's plenty for a growing and ambitious business

I have to agree with all the others saying "NO". I think you would lose the momentum and it may well put you a few steps back in building up those all-important business relationships as some of the 4N members you may only see once every fortnight.

I know that companies on the continent often close throughout August, but that gives me a great opportunity to really concentrate on building our network in the UK.

So, no, no, no. Keep 4N going throughout August!

Helen
