Morning all

Any meetings/seminars/etc are about the people that are there, so I think the meetings should still be on (says he whos yet to eat a breakfast!!)

Being relatively new to 4N, I speak with little experience in 4N matters, but I tend to agree with the No's. Although I'm technically on holiday at this present moment, we are just staying home and not going anywhere in particular. I will be going to the breakfasts and as you see keeing an eye on the forum. Everyone has holidays at different times of the year, so I guess if a break was thought a good idea no matter when you had it someone would miss out on those lovely full English breakfasts because the meeting had been cancelled and they'd be digging into their cornflakes alone!

Close during August, why would we!

Business is done all year round now in the SME market and 4N provide a platform for that sector to operate effectively. Many small businesses don't take holidays or combine their holidays with business anyway!

We had some great launches in August and I've not noticed any drop off of attendance at the groups I've visited.

I'm in the no camp here I'm afraid. Up here in Scotland a holiday dip would happen in July but it hasn't been too bad this year (in terms of 4N and business). Schools here are back and have been now for over a week so holiday time for all the parents here is over!

Well, I'll add a totally superflous "no" just to get my post count up. I holiday in June, so I'd miss 6 weeks networking if we closed in August.

Plus I've picked up 5 new 4N clients in the last 7 days.

Daft idea.

I'm going to throw my 'no' into the arena as well, just for good measure. We'd had good turnouts at Street throughout August and had some people attend who probably wouldn't have if it hadn't been for the summer holiday period!

Also in the NO camp. Sometimes it may be a struggle to get the numbers we usually see but there are still some great meetings going on. I think too many of us have got into the mentality of writing off August but personally I've had a very productive month. For the first time in 14 years we don't have to go away in school holidays which is a relief!

I joined at the end of July and I think all the meetings I have been to since have had at least 25 people! So, Surrey definitely doesn't stop networking for the summer (or maybe we're all just workaholics and don't do holidays?!) Mind you, August has been pretty crappy weather so maybe that has improved numbers!

As someone else suggested, maybe Devon is quiet because of everyone leaving to avoid tourists!

Hi there,

Definitely with the 'NO' folks ... although the design side of my business is all year round, many people will want my maintenance services throughout the summer months to keep their gardens looking good. August is the perfect time to highlight this at 4N meetings ...

Cheers,

Cath.

Three of my four groups have maybe had 3-4 people fewer at them so far this month, but one has dropped from 20+ to 8. Some of that is the holiday effect, some perhaps because we are two team members down at the moment. But not holding meetings is a 'No' for me too.

The meeting with 8 people attending was still a great meeting. I was guest GLing at it and used the extra time available to emphasise some of the key points in the script that I think people often stop hearing. Everyone still only took 40 seconds and we had a great 4Sight because we had the time to open it up to a real round table discussion. Then the 1-2-1s ran at the full 10 mins and we finished at 9.55

Here's an extract from a mailshot I've sent out to previous attendees at that group to hopefully get across the importance of keeping networking.

It may be the height of the holiday season, but that doesn't mean you should be easing back on building your business. And one of the best ways to do that is by being an active part of the 4Networking community.

Imagine how frustrated you'd be if that prospect you've been courting all these months was finally ready to buy - and you weren't at the meeting. Now imagine just how upset you'd be, when you hear on the grapevine that someone else in your line of business was at that meeting - and they got the sale!

With things being a bit quieter in business generally, perhaps now is the time when your product or service will finally make it high enough up your prospect's priority list.

Sorry but i'm in the "NO" section too,

In the summer holidays i'm able to passport more as my Girls are older and can stay at home in bed as teenagers do until i get back from a meeting. This allows me to go 3 times a week instead of 2 and allows me to travel further afield as i don't have to be back for the School Pick Up.

In fact i will miss the extra days 4Networking when they go back to school it's been a great opportunity for me to see other 4Ners in the flesh (Not literally because that could be disturbing LOL:/) rather than just on the forum or twitter long may the Summer Hols Last.

NO WAY from me too. That wouldn't make sense. One of the great things about 4N is that you decide when and where to go. August has been really busy in Surrey, but even if a lot of people were away on holiday and the groups were small for a few weeks, of course I would still go. You never know who you will meet.

As the network has grown so too has the membership, whilst two years ago it was necessary to combine a couple of meetings in August to ensure good attendance at those groups. this year it has been business as usual.

We have noticed a slight decrease in the number of regulars at some groups across the region, but have also noticed an increase of passporters from other groups and regions attending too.

Close down in August and miss the opportunity to continue the ongoing process of meet, like, know and trust - No Chance!

Edit - Posted by Paula (not Daryl !) we seem to have the same problem as MR and MRS Cooper
