Got this email this morning. BCC'd and not personally addressed:

Good Morning

My name is XX MD of X Company. We provide security guards / concierge services, mobile response, event security, close protection, CCTV and access control. We are a Solihull based company looking to strengthen our West Midland ties.

Our company has been running over 2 years now and we have had some great success working with some large companies such as the NHS, Premier Inn, Balfour Beatty, Wilmott Dixon, DTZ and County Crown Courts. Please find below a recent Testimonial from the project Director from the NHS in Northamptonshire

“Since Berrywood Hospital opened in December 2008, X have provided a 24hr security / reception / meet and greet service. The consistent team of guards have achieved the ideal balance of assisting visitors with enquiries and way finding, supporting staff by managing staff alarms, access control fobs, keys and post and protecting the safety of patients, staff and visitors. The pro-active attitude of the guards has meant that potential problems have often been avoided and when incidents have occurred they have proved extremely professional in managing situations and liaising with emergency services and Trust response staff. X are highly appreciated by the staff at the hospital.”

If you could put me in touch with someone who may need our security services that would be much appreciated!

Best Regards

I would reply advising that he join 4N so that he can sell through the room and not to the room.

I couldn't help but reply. I also noticed that he had sent the email in reply to a newsletter in which the sender had not blind copied all the recipients. I told him that that kind of spam was never going to get him very far and maybe he should check out 4N.

Some people have no idea, do they?

I can't see what's wrong with it.

This is the kind of junk that MD's send out. It looks pretty honest. I mean, it is, isn't it?

To me, it looks like the usualy kinda draft copy of "what I want to say". In does make me laungh when people send it out. Fact is, someone will read that message and act on it. In otherwords, they will call him. It doesn't have to be good to work, it only has to be "better" to improve on the crap you already have. :-)

It always amazes me what some people build their companies around.

I suspect, the MD is probably an installation engeineer. That's my guess anyhow.

What a fun letter. He will probably send them out forever like that, either thinking "email is great" or "email doesn't work very well".

He looks to be doing okay to me,: he's doing it. It could be different though.

Better to "do something", than nothing. This I always find respectable.

I missed this point.

This is what people are told to do by "experts". I've never heard so many "experts" encourage illegal activity. This is how people work on the ground.

I have, over the years, had it out with these people, in person.

1. They are not interested.
2. They think what they are doing is okay
3. If you're not buying, you're selling and they don't want to know

That said, just stick it in the SPAM box. That simply black marks the source of the sender with the ISP - usually. All they do over time is build up a poor relationship with their ISP, which ends up in regular mail being auto marked as SPAM.

This is why, custom domains, database, mail merging for mailing out volumes are always good.

Not as good as the one I got sent a few days ago from a recruitment agency CC'd to 150+ recipients.
Needless to say the recruitment lost lots of cred and everyone started replying with their own spam!

I'm with Mira, I cant help replying...

Although for me, it is a great way into a company, when these types of emails drop in and I can call and say 'just received your email and I can help you target the right contacts for your business rather than sporadic'.

I dont think I can help the ones looking for love though or £75Million...........

I got this one this morning, i've never even used or spoken to the company and i have no idea where they got my hotmail email address from. I initially thought it was some kind of spam email where you click a link and download some spyware only to be charged to have it removed but i recognised the company name as being one i'd seen on here.

Bit of a poor show really as i tmakes you think you've cancelled your account that you never had in the first place.
