Personal developement because in about oh...10 minutes time there will be an alternative to the ipad making it obsolete. I however will not be obsolete for a very, very long time!

Both of those would be very low down on my list of things to invest £500 in

iPad is not a business investment unless it's going to save you time/make you more efficient at your job (made the mistake of buying one under the pretence it was going to make my life easier - it didn't)

Personal development pays for itself. But what IS your definition of personal development? skills training?

personal development all day long....shocked that people wouldn't invest just £500 in themselves to learn new skills, improve systems in life/business, sometimes because there is a taboo around 'personal development'.

most of you joined 4N for about the same investment but its largely a personal development platform too just called something different so it seems 'ok'.

i've invested thousands over the years in personal development from mentoring, presentation training, speaker training courses, goal setting stuff....and i'd do it all over again rather than buy a new toy (even though i am a huge apple fan and everything computer & phone wise i own is apple!!).

Don't need either just now but have spent money on personal development in the past and considered it well spent.

Did the same thing years ago when the iPod Touch first came out; told myself I'd use it as a PDA (this was before smart phones actually got smart) - I didn't. It's a cool bit of kit, but I was kidding myself if I thought it was a business purchase.

Personal development every time. In 10 years I have evolved about 100%. There isn't a gadget in the world that could have done that - even though I love my iPod and iPhone.

That development has enabled me to buy any gadget I've wanted and taken me round the world on a journey of discovery - as well as get every part of my investment back.

As already stated the right PD will lead to increased earnings that will lead to the ability to then buy the iPad. Buyin the iPad first probably won't unless it manages to secure you a job with £500 clear profit.

If you were giving me an iPad I'd happily take it, but I really can't justify spending £500 on something that I can already do everything with using combination of iPhone, laptop and Kindle.

So it'd be personal development for me - some confidence stuff maybe, and some CSS training so i can do what I'm doing only better.

I have always been a big believer in Personal Development, and probably spent as much on it as on camera equipment....well, nearly....:/ However I did buy an iPad on the day it came out because I knew it would help me do my job. Being able to show my portfolio wherever I am in such an engaging way has been invaluable (hey Brad?!) and the iPad has more than earnt its place.

The specialist CRM software I use, Light Blue, has just released v3 which will integrate seamlessly with iPhone and iPad, which means I can take bookings and update details such as model releases while I'm out on the road. It's all about making life easier, innit. Oh, and Angry Birds of course.

Absolutely, 100% on Personal Development. Like someone else mentioned, I've spent thousands on PD over the last few years and believe it has made a significant change in my life. I'd like an Ipad - not enough to buy it instead of investing the money in myself though.

Kind regards,

Stuart Ritchie
