Facebook is the more social side of Networking/LinkedIn the sharper business end. Bit like 4N - 50% Social - 50% Business ;-) |

Assuming you are talking about for business - LinkedIn. Maybe it depends on past - but it's been useful for old corporate contacts and a lot of business has come from them. |

Both incredibly useful - use linkedin pureley for business and facebook purely for personal (twitter is the bridge between the 2 for me). Do feel a bit guilty rejecting people i've met through business / networking etc on facebook, but i like having the 2 seperated. It's a comfort thing. |

I'm the same as others Facebook for fun, Linked in for business. However, my Linked In profile is from being employed and the connections there tend to be old colleagues. I think I need to go away and experiment setting up new profiles on both..... |

LinkedIn is a great tool, I have had lots of work through it. However I am just investigating using Facebook as a work tool with a business page. If all works out well I will use both as it seems the Facebook for personal only situation is changing fast. However I have an advantage over most in that I dont use Facebook for personal use at all. |

For those who find the interface an issue, check out the dedicated apps on an iPhone for LinkedIn or Facebook. I suspect there are apps on other phones also. I did not like the Facebook browser interface but find the app covers what I need. Somewhat similar for LinkedIn though I understood LinkedIn before I started using the app. |

I was asked the other day to simply describe the differences in approach and came up with You have to go mining on Linkedin to make it work but can surf on Facebook and hope others are admiring your six pack. A dialogue is imperative on Linkedin you can ineffectively monologue on Facebook (spam). Facebook is getting much more business orientated but I for one get annoyed by the constant changes and by their approach to "testing" change in public and to hell with the users interests |

I use them all.... facebook is amazingly powerful with its viral nature and we get over 80,000 page impressions on the fanpage every month without having to post 24/7 which is actually leading to enquiries and business not just for me but for people on there there. I do get told off for using them for businessy stuff... sorry seems to be my world at the moment... and trying to ensure I give stuff of use to people I am connecting with seems to take loads of my social media space... :-( |
