CB works with businesses of all shapes and sizes from a wide variety of markets, offering advice on Business Development, leadership and strategies. In particular, CB works with business owners as a non-executive director or the equivalent, helping those businesses really shine. As Chris Batten will tell you, it's not about having the knowledge, it's all about how you use it.
Chris has significant experience as a CEO on both sides of the Atlantic and is a published author and public speaker. He gained his interest in non-executive director contracts when we realised the benefits it could bring to his clients' businesses. Profiling also features as he recognised the need for profiling solutions in the SME sector. However, his primary passion remains the writing of compelling brand stories for businesses and his motivational speaking, based on his own career and journey in business.
I would describe myself as a serial entrepreneur and a keen public speaker. My adult career started after I failed to make it big in the music business. In those days I had two passions one was music and the other Rugby. It became clear to me that I was not going to be the big Rock star I had imagined and so joined the Army, for a combination of excitement, travel and my beloved Rugby.
Six active service tours later it was time to leave the Army and take up a new career. I decided that business was going to be my next passion. The journey was a tumultuous one and to be fair many years later still is! My first few businesses were not that great. Each one taught me valuable lessons. I ended up as CEO for a major financial services business and from there became CEO for a US business. Later I was to return to the UK and write my first book on business, while running my consultancy. That was followed by another CEO appointment that saw me going back to the US to launch a new Sister business. From there my next project for the same business was to replicate the US model in the Middle East.
Once that leg of the journey was completed it was time for another book, this time on sales. One constant all through this journey was my great passion and interest in the human side of business and writing. It was this passion and continued interest that resulted in chris-batten.com, a site and service dedicated to content that gets you noticed, writing for businesses and motivational speaking.... There is always more to learn and more to give and that's just what I intend to do...
